A Scholar’s Place Testimonials
“Communication with parents,
students, and schools are critical to our success with each child.
Every learner has unique, specific needs. Respecting
the
learner’s place while scaffolding instruction to challenge the
child is enhanced through our ongoing communication with each key
partner in our shared mission. Each child will read, write, and
excel!”
Parents
On 4/27/07, a proud Pelham parent
announces what prep school the student will attend: “The great
news is that he was accepted to Kent, Loomis Chaffee,
and Westminster. And he was waitlisted at Taft. Apparently, Taft had
1400 applications! He had a hard time deciding between Kent and Loomis,
and he finally chose Kent... So...thank you for all your help and
coaching. You did a great job. He really improved the 2nd time he
took the tests in math and reading. Best to you. Happy Spring. And
thanks again.”
On 6/6/07, New Canaan parents remain pleased with progress on preparing
eighth-grader for study skills, final exams and for the academic
rigors:
“He is doing well. It was incredibly helpful to have you tell him how to study. I'll call you this afternoon or tomorrow so we can plan the next step.” Students
On 12/19/06, a Woodlands senior writes in appreciation for
recommendations for college and for assistance in editing and
proofreading the college essay writing process: “Hi Mahi! I have received your recommendation it is BEAUTIFUL!!!
I called Georgetown and they have received the 1st part of my
application. I just need to send my 2nd part. These are the two essay
that I have rewritten, I would greatly appreciate them if you could
proofread them and send them back to me so I can complete the
application process.” We are proud to announce, with expert guidance assistance from Mr.
Joseph Foy, 11, school counselor, K. received a full scholarship to
SUNY Buffalo.
In fall, 2006, a New Canaan High School senior appreciates ongoing email communication regarding college essay writing help and the wealth of prior counseling experiences Dr. Galvin brings to the sessions: “Dear Mahi, I apologize for my long delay in my response to your last email. In addition to my demanding school work and volleyball schedule, last week my computer had crashed. I am currently waiting for my English teachers final graded copy of my essay to be returned (should be before the end of the week). I will inform you once I have it back and email any changes she has made. In addition, attached to this email is my most recent copy of my essay. Also if you could please email me the common application headings, that would be great.” |
